Valentina Shevchenko (19-3)
Valentina Anatolievna Shevchenko is a Kyrgyzstani-born Peruvian professional mixed martial artist and former Muay Thai fighter.
She competes in the women’s flyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where she is the current Women’s Flyweight champion. Shevchenko became champion at UFC 231 after defeating Joanna Jędrzejczyk, whom she also previously defeated three times in amateur Muay Thai bouts.
Shevchenko is widely considered one of the best female fighters in the world. As of January 27, 2020, she is ranked #2 in UFC women’s pound-for-pound rankings.
Joanne Calderwood (14-4)
Joanne Calderwood is a Scottish professional mixed martial fighter and former Muay Thai champion who competes in the Women’s Flyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
As of September 9, 2019, she is #3 in the UFC women’s flyweight rankings.
She worked several jobs growing up, including one after high school that involved her helping children and people who were on ventilation machines, monitoring them in the hospital and assisting them when needed. But those were 12-hour shifts, which drained energy and made training difficult.

Many consider Shevchenko to be so dominant in the division that she may need to move back up to bantamweight for a third fight with Nunes to continue building her profile in an attempt to become a global star. First, it seems, she will continue the process of clearing out the few remaining contenders to her throne at 125 pounds.
In addition to the women’s flyweight title fight taking place in Perth, UFC president Dana White has previously said that Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway will rematch for the featherweight title at this event after Volkanovski scored an upset win to capture the title in their last meeting.
The UFC also officially confirmed a previously reported 125-pound championship clash between Shevchenko and Joanne Calderwood. Other bouts will be announced soon for the event .
The Octagon initially touched down in Perth for UFC 221 in February 2018, when Yoel Romero knocked out Luke Rockhold in the third round of the evening’s main event. That card also marked the promotional debut of current middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, while reigning featherweight king Alexander Volkanovski made his fourth UFC appearance.
